Marketers don't understand lead generation - but we do!

Despite phenomenal growth in lead generation there remains a lack of understanding among marketers about lead generation and how to use it, a new survey has shown.

The Lead Generation Snapshot Survey, carried out by the Internet Advertising Bureau in November, highlighted that whilst the sector grew by 20% in the first half of last year more than half of marketers admit they are not using the channel effectively.

Confusion seems to lie with even the most fundamental concept of defining what lead generation actually is and understanding what makes an effective lead generation campaign. Yet, despite the confusion, the survey results showed a strong faith in what lead generation can deliver with the majority of respondents understanding that it can increase a customer base and 40% saying they would increase the budgets they allocate to the channel in 2012.
